'Mary would always say that what happened at that moment was almost magic.”
After being sent from India to Misselthwaite Manor in Yorkshire, spoilt and abandoned, 10-year-old Mary Lennox is put into the care of an Uncle she has never met.
Mary finds that the broken-hearted house is full of strange noises and secrets, and discovers a hidden garden in the grounds that is as neglected and lost as she is. If Mary can find a way to make friends with grumpy gardeners, robins, and a young boy who speaks to animals, she may be able to bring more than the garden back to life.
The Secret Garden is Frances Hodgson Burnett’s radical and much-loved story about the magic of nature, and the nature of magic and is now adapted in a new version at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre by Holly Robinson and Anna Himali Howard.
